Oct. 27th – 34th Annual Appalachian Classic

The 34th Annual Appalachian Classic will be our second competition of the season. We will be competing at “Appalachian Classic” in Blountville, TN. at Sullivan Central High School. An admission fee will be charged for all those wishing to attend this event. The contest will begin at 3:00 pm and concludes after the awards presentation at 8:20. The Betsy Band will perform about 7:40. Refreshments will be available at the show. Your child will receive a snack after the show to be provided by the Band Boosters. The following will help you as you plan for this special day.

11:00-12:00      Lunch on your own (band room opens at noon, ACT on campus)
12:30-2:00       Band rehearsal
2:00-3:00         Load trucks
3:00                     Meal at band room compliments “J’s Corner.”
4:15                      Depart in uniform (jackets in travel bag)
5:15                      Arrive at Sullivan Central (bathroom if needed)
5:20                     Unload and prepare for warm up
6:40                     Depart for warm up
6:50                    Warm up
7:35                     At the gate
7:40                     IT’S SHOW TIME!
8:00                    Begin loading trucks
8:20                     Awards
9:00                    Finish loading trucks
10:00                  Depart home
11:00                   Unload trucks

* If your child does not return with the band they must turn in a “Return with Parents FORM” BEFORE we leave EHS. Also, when you pick up your child you must report to a chaperone before departing. *

This will be an exciting and challenging event. The contest is divided into 5 groups; we will compete in class 5A. Bands from the east TN and southwest VA will be in attendance. A total of 14 groups will be performing. Wish us luck.

Remind your child to be on their best behavior as we represent our town and school. All rules of Elizabethton City schools will be in effect on this trip.
